Me and COVID-19

Eddie Hall (also known as ‘The Beast’) won the World's Strongest Man in 2017 when he deadlifted 500 kg under Strongman rules.  At the height of the pandemic on 2 May Icelandic Hafthor Bjornsson, who played Ser Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane in Game of Thrones, deadlifted 501 kg in his home gym.  There were arguments as to how the deadlift world record should be set, and Hafthor launched an onslaught against Eddie, offering to fight him in the ring.

Both of them will now be fighting each other in a Las Vegas boxing showdown next year.

In preparation, Eddie is following an intense training regime to transform from strongman into boxer, switching his workouts and upping his cardio to build speed as well as strength.   He is also eating about 10,000 calories a day.

His routine comprises a number of elements, doing 4 strength and conditioning sessions a week along with 4 boxing sessions, 2 high intensity training (HIT)  sessions-  and hours and hours of recovery such as massage, hot’n’ cold treatments and even cryotherapy treatments- all at home.

Eddie has been so busy locked down in training he has hardly noticed that lockdown extends beyond his training and recovery at home.
